Another Dojo Alumnus is
Published
John Bailor has been accepted as
a member of International
Thriller Writers, thanks to being published by Gryphonwood
Press. His debut novel, Death Dealt the Hand, is now in its
second edition. In the novel, special agent Trevor Byrne investigates the hasty
approval of an experimental AIDS drug developed by a genetics lab located in
central Pennsylvania -- you’ll recognize many local landmarks in the story and
enjoy the martial arts sequences (which are based on the training John did at
our dojo). John will be having a book signing at The Cupboard Maker Books in
Enola, on Sunday, December 6, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Please stop by to say hello
to John and pick up an autographed copy.
Note that there are still a few copies of the first edition on the
bookshelf at the dojo, and that these are now collector’s items.
Kenjutsu Seminar with the
Uhlers
Rod and Mitsuko Uhler, of the
Hakuho-ryu, will lead three evenings of kenjutsu training on December 21, 22,
and 23. Training will be conducted from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. each evening, and will
focus on the Imperial Sword Forms, the Hakuho-ryu versions of the Nihon Kendo
Kata. This is an in-house seminar, open only to members of the dojo.
A New CD from Amdur Sensei
In 2009, Ellis Amdur was one of
a number of people interviewed for Keigan Production’s DVD project, Remembering
Terry Dobson. Because of time and production constraints, only one
sound bite of Ellis’ interview was included, but now the entire interview is
available on CD, with 45 minutes of stories and reminiscences of Ellis’ mentor
and a friend. The CD can be ordered through Ellis’ web site, at www.edgework.info/buy.html.
The CD is $12, shipping included.
